Welcome to our kitchen, you all requested for me to show you so here it is. Our (my) plan was to open up this kitchen and build a conservatory. This won’t be happening for a while and I guess it is nice to share with you how it looks before we start building.

The house was in good condition, I loved certain elements but it was not exactly to my taste. Initially I wanted a house that needed complete refurbishment but with this house we got lucky because it was done nice and only needed tweaking to me taste. I will keep saying “I” because Paris doesn’t get involved, I am lucky that he let’s me do what I want to the house. His first flat was all brown and cream with tribal swords on the walls…. err no thanks, leave the interior design to moi.

This kitchen was already here when we moved in, it’s a really expensive, bespoke kitchen; too expensive for us even. However it used to be cream with brown worktops and brown handles. If you scroll down to the bottom of the article you will see some “before” photos. Let me know which style you prefer: the new grey one or the older cream one? This is a perfect example of how you can transform a kitchen with some paint (Shadow Chic by Dulux) and new handles. The previous style was country and more mature. The new style is modern and chic. With that said the style is pretty traditional, I have just updated it with crystal knobs ( I am Essex I like crystal) grey paint and copper, marble kitchen ware.

My favourite things about this kitchen is the hand sensor bin, it’s so clever and convenient; Click here to buy. I also love my coffee machine here. I love coffee, so a good coffee machine is worth the investment to me. This machine makes me the dream coffee, it’s better than any other coffee shop and I love buying the different capsules to put inside.

I love how my house is traditional but modern at the same time. You will notice this through my house, I have mixed traditional pieces with modern bits. I love the warehouse style of metals and minimalism. However because our house is set in fields and has that country look outside I didn’t want to make it too modern. My London flat is really modern and more steam line. I will show you my flat soon. Would you like a house tour via YouTube? If yes leave a comment below and tell me what you want to see more of.

My marble cups with no handles are from H&M and the ones with copper and handles are from America. They are all sold out now but I have tried to link similar ones here.

I adore my Aga, it’s something I have always wanted but I never ever would have bought one. The Aga was here when we moved in. I love it so much. It keeps the kitchen warm and makes cooking so easy due to the fact it’s always running. It looks great and cooks meat incredibly.

Paris and I travel a lot. When I travel I love to buy house hold bits, every corner of my house will remind me of one of our trips. I love buying boxes, trays, cups and in this room it’s my copper collection from India. Aswell as my rustic “Clés” holder from the South of France.

I admit I am totally obsessed with my house, I clean it everyday myself; I keep it like a show home. I always strive to make it feel welcoming and homely. The reason for this is because I am one of those people that suffer with anxiety and cleaning is just a given for us anxious people. It is also because I grew up with nothing. My dad was terminally ill so unfortunately my mum was either working two jobs to keep the family going or she was at the hospital. In a result our home wasn’t that homely. This couldn’t be help and my mum did make our house pretty and nice but you can’t ignore the fact that our house was always quite sad because of my dad being so unwell. Now I have my own home I can take control of everything. I also appreciate my home more than you can imagine because I didn’t grow up privilege at all.

Okay Claire this is a kitchen tour not a therapy session! I hope you enjoy the photos. If you want to know any more information about anything in the photos please leave a comment below. Please do not ask me on Snapchat because sometimes I miss the messages and it’s nice for everyone to see my answers so I don’t have to answer more than once 🙂

Utility Room

This is the first time I have ever had a utility room. I have always wanted one because I can’t stand mess and washing in my house. With a utility room you can shut the door and shut away all your washing and the sound of the washing machine; mines always on. Our’s is quite big but the space has not been utilised well, it’s actually not got that much storage. Our normal cooker is in here as well as an additional farm house sink. My hoover lives in here. I LOVE my hoover, ever house hold needs a cordless hoover, it’s a dream. Click here to buy.

Down Stairs Toilet

I have this tradition, I always decorate my down stairs toilets with flamingos, click here to see my last flamingo toilet. We were so lucky that  the house has French toilet systems, traditional, old ones which we both love. I love how this continues the flow of old mixed with new and contemporary mixed with traditional.

Wow! Claire you’ve got a really good eye for interior design. I LOVE the transformation, especially the units & worktops.
The flamingo wall paper is perfect for the downstairs loo.
It’s great you’ve done a blog post about this space as it’s very inspirational & you don’t get to see the whole vision you had on Snapchat.
Hugs Adele xoxo

Love it all! We’re doing our kitchen next year and I’m obsessed with other people’s at the moment as a result. And thank you for the tip on getting the housekeeping storage bucket from John Lewis! I mis-read your post and thought you wanted people to ask you questions on Snapchat (why would you want people to do that? I don’t know – I’m clearly a dullard)! xxx
