I know so many of you have asked me to recommend some hot spots to visit around Cali so I am sharing some of the places I visited and where I think you should try and visit. There was so much to tell you about so I have divided this story into two edits. The next one will be in two days. Don’t forget to watch my “Cali Road Trip & Coachella 2016” video HERE.
For our first day in LA we went to Venice Beach. This is the perfect LA day, lots of shops and restaurants along the promenade and the beach is so lovely. We spent the morning here, it’s worth the visit just to have a photo on one of the life guard stands. I love it that I am standing right next to the “KEEP OFF” sign.
We then made our way to Malibu which is somewhere I haven’t been before. It was so much bigger and greener than I imagined. I understand why huge celebs live there because the houses are more secluded. On the way to Malibu we were driving on the highway and I saw this “Barbie” house in the corner of my eye. I screamed and scared the life out of Paris. I made him turn off so we could get closer to it. I was so shocked this house was on the highway, not a great location from the front, it must be so noisy. However the back of the house looks over Santa Monica pier so it’s hardly a terrible location. We parked in a car park five minutes walk away but you can actually pull up outside the house which is so much better. I recommend visiting this house because it’s so unique and again a greta photo opportunity. You can then walk over to Santa Monica pier. The address for this house is “1341 Palisades Beach Road Santa Monica“.
If you go to Malibu I recommend going to the beach, the waves are high and we enjoyed relaxing and watching the surfers. We had lunch at “Malibu Cafe” in the mountains. This place is so incredible, you have to visit it. It’s a huge outdoor restaurant with over sized outdoor games, umbrellas and chandeliers hanging from the trees; I have never been anywhere like it. Click here to read more and find the address.
We then had an early dinner at Nobu Malibu which is also a must. I will warn you that the staff were quite rude and the service was really bad. I really hate places that judge you by what you are wearing and how famous you are. Nobu Malibu will treat you based on how well dressed you are or how rich you look. I had a dressy outfit and heels in the car but I couldn’t be bothered to get changed. I am sure if I walked in wearing my designer outfit and bag with a big blow dry I would have been served nicer but never mind. Pathetic and such a shame for a lovely restaurant. We even saw one couple get so annoyed they walked out really angry before their meal came. We also decided to only have drinks instead of dinner because we didn’t enjoy the service. The location, view and food was all great. Click here to read mire about Nobu Malibu.
I wore the same outfit all day. I love to team up double denim and I love this over sized denim jacket, it’s so cheap too. Click here to shop. My off the shoulder top is from the same store and you can buy that here. My shorts are the best pair of denim shorts I own, I have had them for years and live in them. You can shop them here.
We went hiking one morning. It was really hot so make sure you take a water. We had to hike for nearly an hour to reach the highest point and see the HOLLYWOOD sign. Everyone piles around the site seeing building so we wanted to come away from all the crowds. There was absolutely no one here and it was so peaceful. Be prepared for a long hike though!
This trip was planned by KENSINGTON & PEARL. If you would like to find out more about booking a holiday with them click here.
