COACHELLA Day 2 – Camera Rules

This was my second look from Day 2 of Coachella. I bought this outfit in Newport from here. I just had to have and thought I could wear it again seeing as it was a skirt and top; skirt a tops are much better than buying dresses because you can wear it more. My boots were from Texas, I love it that they are real cowboy boots.

I would suggest paying a visit to the famous Palm Springs Windmills, it’s such an incredible site and one of the examples why this place is so beautiful.

My backpack was the best Coachella essential. I fully recommend taking a backpack to this festival or any festival because you can fit so much in there and have it on your back. Mine is from Designer Exchange in Knightsbridge.

Packing for Coachella is super hard. There is all this extra pressure to look good. The you have the heat, it’s seriously bloody hot so don’t under estimate how hot it is in the day. It get complicated because in the evening the temperate drops and gets chilly so you need a jacket! Do not go to this festival without a jumper or jacket because you will get cold in the evening and want to go home. They do sell sweaters at the Coachella shop so you can always buy one of those for $30. I buy one just to remember the weekend.

This is why you need a decent size bag and backpack is useful. I have my eye on this backpack, I think it’s the best backpack I have ever seen and it is for sure the next bag on my list. It is also perfect for the plane too when I travel. There are lockers but they are $40 and I found hiring one really annoying because there are only in one corner and this place is so huge. Just pack wisely and wear thin layers to cater for the heat and the chilly evening.

On the second day I was invited to the Guess party, which was so so fun. If you can get into one of these VIP parties then go and try your best to get an invite. You would need to contact the brands and see if you can go. Obviously for a blogger it’s a way to get invited. I was meant to be going to this party with Anouska, she actually kindly invited us to go with her but in the end she didn’t visit Palm Springs in her epic road trip. This is how I got invited to the party, I can’t take credit for getting it myself.

When I finally reached Coachella we pick up Marta who is one of the consultants at Rewards Style.

Important Asthma Tip

On the first night it was so windy but I loved it because the second two nights were really stuffy. You 100% need to pack a bandana. You will notice in all my photos I have a bandana tied to all my bags. You are in a desert so you need the bandana to put around your mouth to save you choking on the sand. On the first night the wind was blowing the dust and sand everywhere so it was important to have a scarf. I didn’t pack one the previous year because I didn’t read anywhere that I needed a scarf. On the last night I had an asthma attack, I know how dramatic but the sand was blowing everywhere and the air was humid. This is the worst combination for an asthmatic. I wasn’t the only one that had problem, it seemed that all the aesthetics were suffering because the medical tent was full of people having asthmatics. This was my own fault because I didn’t pack an inhaler or have my bandana on me.

Camera Rules

So many people asked me So many people asked me what camera I took in with me and what are the rule when it comes to photography. There is a rule that you can’t take in a “professional” camera. If you have a SLR you cannot take this in. I was worried that I couldn’t take in my Olympus PEN because although it is kind of a compact camera, the website states that you can not take in a camera that has a detachable lens. My Olympus does have a detachable lens and I wanted to take two lenses, one for filming and one for photos.

I took the risk and took my camera in with me. They do search your bags before you enter for drinks (no from of liquids are allowed) and of course drugs and that kinda stuff. This is where they look for the banned cameras. I hid my extra lens in a t-shirt within my bag and I got in fine. It was a risk but it worked out okay for me on all three days. I was a bit naughty but it wasn’t a huge SLR and not like Olympus PENS are illegal in the world so I felt okay about it.

To conclude try and take a compact camera but if you really want good quality photos like I did then taking an Olympus PEN camera is fine. Click here to buy my camera. I swear it’s the best camera on the planet, has built in wifi, you can buy extra lens and it all fitted in my small Saint Laurent bag.
