LFW DAY 2 – Julien Macdonald – Classic Pieces and Investing Wisely

This I think has to be one of my favourite looks for the entire fashion month. Everything I am wearing is A. my fave brands and pieces and B. Everthing is a classic pieces which means I can re wear it all, different ways and through out the year. This outfit is the best example I can give you when it comes to investing into luxury ready to wear and making your money go far.

I am investing more into luxury ready wear for no other reason then I just like how high end clothes fit and feel. Of course you can buy luxury that isn’t actually good quality but I am here to make sure you do not waste your money. Buying designer ready to wear does last, it does fit better (I think) and over all you do get what you pay for. I always stick to classic colours and pieces; hence this all black look. I only buy colour if they are classic colours such as red and blue. Red and blue are still classic colours, that can be worn all year round and pretty easy to mix and match.

Let’s start with the top. I discovered this brand MARCH 11 via Net A Porter, I love how NAP introduce new brands, I really love that about them. I was a little optimistic about this brand because it was expensive but I decided to order a dress here for the South of France because it was still cheaper than most of the other dresses on the website. When the dress arrived I was like wow, the quality is so amazing and made me understand why it was so pricey. A few months after I wore the dress ZARA (obviously) made a copy. The copy is a navy dress with red embroidery, it’s nice but there is no comparison to the actual real thing. I personally get really put off when ZARA sell an item that you just know will be worn by everyone. I nearly bought the navy dress but I saw so many people wearing it, it just put me off and I would prefer to invest into the real piece. I know this dress will be perfect to wear over an over again. Click here to see the top. Buy true to size, I wear size small.

I am really excited to wear the new MARCH 11 collection but I am saving them for a work trip in two weeks. Any guesses where I am going? I have listed below the new collection of MARCH 11 so you can see for your selves. These dresses may not appear to be “classic” at first but for me these are classic pieces. Just because you are investing this doesn’t mean you have to buy black or boring. These dresses are always in classic colours, the quality is 10/10 and the shape makes them very wearable for holidays, city days or even dress them up for evenings out of special events; like this outfit.

The skirt. Everyone knows I am a total BALMAIN addict. I have…… let me count….. 13 BALMAIN jackets. Which has just made me realise I can not have an odd number and now need to by another one. Oh no actually I missed one and I do have 14, phew. Anyway I have never bought one of these skirts. I have always wanted one but thought £700 was too much for a skirt. I realised that I can wear a black skirt quite a lot and it will match my black suit jacket so well. I took the plunge and ordered it. I love love love this skirt! It is so classic and it has been my go to piece when ever I go out. I wore it in Florence with knitted boots (scroll down to final photos) with a knitted sweater and flat boots; you can see how easy it is to style this skirt for a day time look. You can also see how I wore it with my heels and my matching BALMAIN jacket. I can mix this skirt with any top in my wardrobe and it looks totally fab. I want to wear it with a denim shirt next. So basically this skirt is a must, cost per wear it will be worth it and it is a sexy but classic look. It also sucks you it which is a plus.

Whats the sizing like? 36 fitted me perfectly but I have Crohns and suffer with a bloated tummy which is very painful for me. I decided to order the next size up for comfort. You can actually see in the photos by the end of the day my tummy had bloated and I hadn’t even eaten anything all day. But thats just (annoyingly) life and something I live with.

The boots. I am sorry if you are sick of these boots but I can’t stop wearing them, they match every outfit I put together and they are so so comfortable. I suffer from nerve damage and arthritis so when I tell you a shoe style is comfortable it really is extra comfortable. They also come in cream, have a look here and tell me what you think in the comment box; seriously thinking of ordering them.

Lastly my Classic CHANEL FLAP bag in large. This was the first CHANEL bag I ever bought. Eight years on it’s still one of my faves. You can not go wrong with investing into a Chanel bag.

Here are some other ready to wear pieces that I recommend buying if you are looking for a good investment and by that I mean a piece that is wearable (you can wear it over and over again) something that will last and something that is practical (a warm coat) and something that will make you feel good.
