Spike me

DIY spike comb

I was in the middle of writing a post on ‘spikes’, going through my wardrobe looking for anything with spikes. I found a lot! I have just ordered a spike iphone case and realised, OK slightly obsessing over spikes right now…..em well for a few years.

I came across 100s (slight exaggeration I found 6) of bags of random spikes I have bought over the years. I have customised quite a few things with spikes, you’ve seen my home made black spiky shorts? If not Click here! Two years ago I bought a faux leather jacket from Topshop to experiment with. I can’t find the bloody thing anywhere! Ill show you another time….when it decides to appear.

Today I wondered what I could create with my left over jumble bits and bobs whilst at home ill and too much time on my hands. I had a brain wave to create a spike comb!! I knew exactly what I wanted in mind. First things first was to google my idea, as its probably been done before. Well yes it has been 🙁 BUT my idea is very cheap, quick and easy to create. This is the image I found:

Not only is my way cheaper but you can buy what colours you want. These combs are not a perfect match for platinum blonde hair or black hair. So buy transparent like me or a perfect match for your colour.

All you need is a hair comb, super glue and spikes in what ever colour you fancy. I had gold and steel already so this is what I chose. I bought my combs off ebay; 5 for £1.50. the spikes I buy anywhere and everywhere, haberdashery shops or online.

You will need

Step 1

SPIKE COMB

Simple as that!

Another example with steel spikes.

Make sure you don’t use too much glue as the glue runs everywhere and looks messy. This also makes it harder to stick. Hold the spike still for 90 seconds and voila!

Happy DIYing!

Thank you. I buy my spikes and studs mostly online here. They have a huge variety and so cheap BUT theres a delivery charge and normally a customs charge. If your around London I always shop at the haberdashery shops around Soho. Theres a particularly good store around Noel Street that sells amazing big spikes. xx
