Wecome to our happy place | LOUNGE TOUR PART 1 WITH TIMOTHY OULTON | IAM CHOUQUETTE HOME

by Claire Chanelle

As this has been so frequently requested, I have finally got around to sharing my lounge with you. The reason we took so long is purely because it was not 100% finished. After living here for over a year we thought we may as well show you where we are up to. We may install new floor and continue the theme of wood panels to the lounge.

The main aspect I wanted to finish before I shared our lounge with you was the lighting. I wanted a wow chandelier and it took me nearly two years to find it. It had to be chic but not too over powering at the same time. There is so much going on with the statement sofas, the copper TV stand, the beams and the oversized fire place. See, not an easy task to manage but Timothy Oulton answered my dreams AGAIN.

Just like shopping for clothes, the same rules/strategies still apply to interiors. With clothes I determine quality and cost per wear. With interior I consider quality and it has to have the ‘wow’ factor. That wow factor will be the reason why you have it forever and take it from home to home. Invest in furniture that “makes a room”. I see this as similar to “cost per wear”. Will this piece of furniture make a room, and can I take it to my potential next home and style it differently to give it a new lease of life?

If you missed my previous interior design article, featuring my new TIMOTHY OULTON REX MIRROR and new SERPENTINE SOFA. This is another prime example of investing into furniture that makes my house look sensational, they will look amazing in any room and I can restyle the theme of the room if needed.

My new TIMOTHY OULTON ODEON MARBLE PENDANT is everything and more. My mind could not even fathom a MARBLE PENDANT, and my imagination is pretty creative. The ingots are the exact style I love, bright white with natural but deep dark veins. The light blends through the marble and it truly is a piece of art (multitasking as a practical light fixture). Just as the REX MIRROR is a piece of art and the SERPENTINE SOFA is art we can sit on. Timothy Oulton combines artistry with practical furniture and I am his biggest fan.

You can read more about the new TIMOTHY OULTON ODEON MARBLE PENDANT on their website. I strongly advise you to check out the rest of the products, they will blow your mind, I guarantee you will not see any designs like them and they are just as impressive in real life. Every piece is authentically handcrafted using pure materials, blending time-honoured techniques with innovative design for the perfect mix of tradition and modernity. You can visit the Timothy Oulton HARRODS or HEAL’S showrooms or the other store locations.

If you have been following me for a while you know I have a love for real marble. Our wedding gift that we chose for ourselves was a solid marble dining table and I wanted to have accents of real marble throughout. Timothy Oulton is one of the only brands to use marble in its lighting collection which makes this piece really unique. The TIMOTHY OULTON ODEON MARBLE PENDANT brings a little bit of luxury glamour, but the industrial black frame adds some masculinity and a cool aspect. It is so unpredictable and suits our style. Paris loves it because he loves the quality and the workmanship. He also loves the heavy-duty metal work. Never forget that lighting makes a room and the fixture is a great focal point to center the room and set the room.

I really wish I had vlogged us installing the light. This is a true story. Paris was taking down our old light fixture (which is now in the bar and you can see it here) he let go of the light thinking that one screw was enough to hold it. As he let go the light fell to the floor! It was a Del Boy moment and I cannot believe the other chandelier survived. I am sure you can imagine him doing that.

I really adore the beams in our lounge, white washed beams were a must for my forever home. I adore high ceilings and dramatic light fixtures. We lost a room above the lounge to create this exaggerated look. It’s so worth it, or do you think a lower ceiling and an extra bedroom is more what you would choose? The beauty about the marble chandelier is that it is the perfect size for the average ceiling height, it is definitely not too over the top if you have a lower ceiling than us.

Paris and I love being at home with the fire on and enjoying our space we have worked so hard for. It’s funny how we change as we grow up. I remember when all I wanted to do was go out every night and now all I want to do is sit by the fire with Paris and the dogs. We enjoy the cosy life so much that we put so much effort and investment into creating the perfect sanctuary. It is snowing so heavily today, it could not be a more perfect day to share our cosy lounge with you.

We separated our lounge into two parts. One side is our cosy TV side and the other side is what I call the “DIOR lounge”. It’s more pretty and formal. We usually sit there in the morning and have our coffee. If we do that on the other sofa we get too cosy and don’t want to work! I love having the two separate areas, it’s a real luxury and something I never thought I would have. I wanted them different in the sense that one side is formal, and one side is cosy but I still needed the room to flow. To achieve this, I used the same colours, and flooring. The flooring is very important to keep that open flow. I also repeated accessories like the shearling rug, Jo Malone candles and another copper piece of furniture. My marble table also compliments the TIMOTHY OULTON ODEON MARBLE PENDANT.

Our sofa was designed by me and bespoke made. Same goes for the marble coffee table. Our copper TV cabinet came all the way from Iceland. I very much focused on mixing industrial material like the black frame on the light fixture and copper on the TV cabinet, mixed with white wood, white marble and velvet fabrics. I style my house just like I style myself, boy meets girl 🙂

Next week we will be sharing the other half of our lounge and I can answer any questions about the sofa, flooring and anything else you need to know. Leave me a comment below if there is anything you would like to hear more of and I can cover it in part 2 of the lounge post.

I was thinking about filming a video lounge tour. What do you think? If you would like us to do that please leave any questions in the comment box and I will answer them in the video. We will talk more about each piece of furniture if you would like?

This room is without a doubt my complete happy place. I hope you enjoyed me sharing it with you?

You mention that your sofa is bespoke and designed by you. What company made it for you? I’d love to know as I would like to do the same.

Thanks
