CONRAD MALDIVES VLOG & STYLE DIARY

by Claire Chanelle

As I write this article it’s pitch black outside and snowing. This time of year is when I crave the sun the most. I love winter sun destinations and feel like this is the best time to travel and really appreciate the hot climate. I have been searching online where I would like to travel next and it’s already got me in the mood for summer/holiday shopping.

I wanted to put together a style diary from last holiday. In November I visited the CONRAD MALDIVES, if you missed the hotel review click here. Looking back at the photos I can not quite believe I was there, the Maldives is so stunning and an absolute must place to visit in your life time. We had the best time, there was so much to do, the Spa Retreat and activities were my favourite thing to do. We actually barely relaxed because there was so much to do. Maybe I should go back and this time just enjoy the beach 🙂 If you would like to read all about the hotel be sure to check out my review.

When visiting an island like the Maldives all you need is a pair of shorts, a bikini, a day dress, flip flops and basically the bare essentials. Believe me I completely emerge myself into island life and love it. In real life I am a scruffy tomboy. I am not one of those women that dress up at night on holiday. However I really love women that do, I love to look at these kinda women and then they encourage me to make more of an effort. I always dedicated at least two nights to some glamour but usually I live in comfy dresses and denim shorts. The blogger in me is the one reasonable for taking so many outfits and wearing so much. I can not resist taking lots of clothes and trying them all out. Thankfully for you I have lots of options to share with you. You can see more of these looks in my video, make sure you watch it.

My holiday style has changed in the last year. I would never usually wear a one pieces for tanning reason, but now I am not too bothered about tanning my tummy, lets be honest who will see my tanned tummy, my colour blind husband? I love how flattering one pieces are and I love how they hold me in better when I am swimming or on this holiday snorkelling and whale shark swimming. Below are the three one pieces I packed with me.

When packing bikinis I make sure they are suitable for DDs (supported) and good for tan line straps. I love the Kiini bikinis. I have the actual Kiini one here and the high street version here. The Kiini one does feel better but that inevitable.

SUMMER/HOLIDAY MUST HAVES

I have two items that I adore and they come on every single holiday with me. The first is my CHANEL Deauville tote. This bag is my pride and joy. It is so practical, so pretty and I love it. It was a great investment. They are hard to find and only sold a certain time of the year. I recommend searching here, they always have them in stock but they do sell fast. My grey one came in stock recently but then it sold right away. It’s worth checking this site daily. The other must have’s are my GIVENCHY sliders. They are also practical and a great investment. I love the masculinity of them, they are super easy to throw on and whilst I am in London they are my pedicure shoes. They are very hard to hunt down but they have just come back in stock here. They run quite big and wide. I am wearing size 39.

During the day I wear the same One Teaspoon denim shorts. I have had these for six years now, they are THE BEST denim shorts EVER, and this brand is the best brand for denim, end of story. What ever you need denim ones, please check here first. I tend to shop via this website. I usually wear the shorts with tee but because the CONRAD MALDIVES is a luxury and very chic resort I wanted to pack a nice white shirt. This is actually why I ordered the white cow girl shirt in the first place. I have since worn it in London so many times, see here. I loved wearing this with shorts or simply open with my swimwear. I think I nice shirt is always a good holiday essential. You can shop my one here.

The other day pieces I wore a lot were my transparent wrap dresses from Cloe Cassandro. I discovered this brand on Instagram. The customer service was great, the dresses are stunning and I love it that the dresses are made in Bali, supporting local artisans. Check out the website here. I have my eye on the new silk styles, how amazing is the navy wrap dress?

I always recommend to pack some super light fabric pieces, these are so light for your case, don’t crease and perfect for the beach. Another brand I love is Paloma Blue. I have been wearing this brand for around two years now, it’s such a beautiful brand; boho beach wear but a little but luxury. The fabrics are all silk and it’s a British brand, I love wearing British brands. They are now expanding into crochet and wrap dresses, which makes me excited. I have the silk trousers, these are perfect for the evening or a chic travel outfit. I also have the shorts and vests. I love the shorts because they have a little bit of a tomboy shape, they are a little sporty. I really love how they make my legs look.

I always have an ASOS shop for every holiday. It’s the best place to buy summer pieces all year round, fast delivery and low end prices so we can get all our last minute bits without going too mad. I picked up a Flamingo inflatable and this palm tree playsuit. I have linked below a few new summer pieces that are in my wish list. I actually just stopped mid way through that sentence and bought every single item. They will arrive just in time for my next trip.

Another go to store that has amazing summer brands all year round is Momo Clothing Southport. I discovered this store on Instagram. I really love Australian brands but hate the custom charges and the long and expensive shipping times. Momos Southport is an actual store in Southport, if you live near by you should pay them a visit; I have never been. I was so happy to find another UK based store/website that stock Australian brands. The customer service is great, they are really helpful with sizing, the shipping is fast and the stock is great. Their stock sells pretty fast, so do not hesitate like I did and miss out. I wanted the silver playsuit but took long to think about it. I missed out on the size 8 so had to order the size 10; which wasn’t too bad at all. Australian sizing is similar to UK sizes, they are fairly standard, maybe a tiny bit generous. Momos has a fantastic instagram, they upload the new stock here first so be sure to follow them. This is a great store for summer items and occasion outfits. With that said I did order an amazing grey tweed two pieces which is really ideal for winter. I haven’t shot it yet but I will make sure I share that with you next week. For now you can see it here, it’s gone into the sale.

On this holiday I took two playsuits with me, both by Alice McCall. The silver one is sold out (maybe contact them to see if it’s coming back) and the black one. The black one here has now gone into the sale, it is a bargain.

One of my ultimate best discoveries of 2016 was March 11. I found this brand via Net A Porter. I wore one here in the South of France and fell in love with the quality. Zara and other high street stores did attempt to ruin this style by making dupes. I did also love the dupes but not when you have spent a few hundred on the real deal. March 11 triumphed by designing a new range. They introduced the off the shoulder style, the skirt (which I do not have) and the new style which is similar to the original, you can see this below.

The dresses looks great in the photo but in real life they are wow. I did not realise how beutiful they were until my order was delivered. The workmanship that goes into these dresses are so impressive, they look and feel so luxe. I adore the colour ways, the pocket detail, the boho vibe and most of all the pom poms. Be sure to check out this brand for your next holiday.

A new evening brand I discovered last year was A Star Is Born. I love this brand, it’s so me; beads, fringes, 1920s/Balmain inspired. It’s a stunning brand and it’s sold exclusively with ASOS. Sizing runs white generous. Be sure to see a lot of this brand on my blog this year.
