Coco Made Me Do It

I wore this two weeks ago when I went to visit the Virgos Lounge headquarters in London. As soon as I left the house it poured down rain and my hair got ruined for the photos 🙁

As you have probably noticed lately I am into slogan tees with some kind of joke towards a desingner brand I usually wear. My everyday look is usually jeans, flat shoes with a nice bag and a statement jacket or necklace. This Aggy Ivory jacket really transformed a plain, average look into a glamourous outfit. The VL jackets are so easy to wear with jeans and tee for the day or with a dress or heels for an evening look.

I wanted to talk to you about the Virgos Lounge brand and what goes on behind the scenes. The founders of the brand are two sisters Fioye and Oyeyemi who are in their twenties. They had a passion for vintage fashion and the determination to make something out of their enthusiasm and design talent. The girls started out by customising vintage clothing but soon realised there was a high demand for what they were doing so why not mass produce their own designs with a vintage influence. The business started off in their lounge and soon expanded to a small team and a permanent office space. I can relate to the brand because Chelsea Styling isa business that was born in my lounge and also progressed into a successful business.

The element of the brand I love the most is the education background of Fioye and Oyeyemi. I get so many emails asking me for advice on education and what courses are best to study to be a success in the fashion industry. I believe that if you have a natural talent designing, styling or any other creative skill this is a natural talent that can not be learned. If you are blessed with a creative skill I would advise to concentrate on learning how to run a business as this is what makes a company flourish. The girls behind the brand did not study to become designers, they have natural talents and focused on business methods. The girls make a perfect duo as Oyeyemi is the designer and Fioye concentrates on the business side such as marketing and accounting.

Of course if you want to be a designer and you have the flare then by all means study the design and making process. I would just advise not to forget the business side and if you did not study fashion and you want to work in fashion I do not think this should be an issue and Virgos Lounge is proof of this. I hope that the story behind the amazing, successful brand will inspire you to follow your dreams and believe anything is possible if you try hard enough.
