Due to so many of you requesting a winter article full of winter styling tips, I decided to put together a little Autumn/Winter style edit. This is just to give you some inspiration whilst preparing for Autumn Winter. My new “Styling Suite” isn’t quite finished but this is the start of me sharing the other side of my career which is styling. I will now be sharing my Styling projects, Styling tips and my Styling Suite will be making many more appearances on my blog. Would you like a dedicated article showing you my Styling Suite room?
I have just pulled some pieces from my closet because it is still technically Summer and the shops are not quite selling winter coats, knitwear and leather trousers but it’s important to recycle your wardrobe and re wear your pieces. I am not one for wearing things once and throwing them away; I like to get the most out of even inexpensive pieces. Just because an item is “cheap” doesn’t mean it’s only worth one wear. Anyway I hope this article will inspire you to recycle some of your current pieces and if you don’t have anything I have mentioned, at least you know what to look out for when the stores start selling winter items.
As for all the luxury winter pieces I own such as my Aviator coat, this piece is going to be my Winter coat for the rest of my life; if I am investing in a luxury item it needs to be worn more than 1000 times. By the way my coat is back in stock and this coat is really hard to locate mid winter in the common sizes. I bought mine in the Summer (around this time) so do not make the mistake and decide to buy this coat when it’s cold because it will not be there to buy. It is the warmest coat on the planet not to mention the most stylish coat…. an absolute winner in my eyes. Anyway I hope this article will inspire you to recycle some of you current pieces and if you don’t have anything I have mentioned, at least you know what to look out for when the stores start selling winter items.
The good news is I wanted to include accessories and some beauty products because they are all just as important. An accessory can can be responsible for updating your look from last winter and also making you unique from every other girl wearing a grey knitted jumper and jeans; it’s all how you style things. That is why today is mainly focused on simple outfits and key accessories.
I seriously love winter. I love Christmas, I love staying in doors and being cosy and I love my winter wardrobe. My Autumn/Winter style is very simple so I rely on accessories to glam up my look or change it up. I wear jewellery more in the Winter because it’s a nice way to dress up a cosy/casual look.
I am a fan of PANDORA you may remember my Summer article here? I love the quality of their pieces, it always feels so luxe. I wanted to show you a few of my favourite pieces and how a simple pair of studs or a dainty necklace can transform a look. I will be focusing on silver jewellery because I think silver is ideal for Autumn/Winter. You can really layer up the cold tones and it’s the best tone to mix and match.
My absolute favourite pair of earrings are these PEARL EARRINGS I adore pearls, my wedding dress was covered head to toe in pearls and I love them. I have never owned a simple pair of pearl earrings so I knew these were a must have. Pearl studs are great all year round, they are so chic and perfect for the day or evening. My winter style tip is to focus on a nice pair of earrings to compliment a knitted jumper. They are the perfect winter accessory to pair with high neck knitted sweaters like I am wearing. I couldn’t have picked a more perfect pair of studs to fit my style. I will be living in these earrings. You could also mix and match, with a pearl earring in one ear and then a statement earring in the other. I love how this pair has the silver casing detail, which gives it a more modern twist.
I really like vintage inspired jewellery, I always have done. When I hinted (a lot) for my engagement ring the only criteria I really pushed was that I wanted a “vintage” looking ring. The VINTAGE INSPIRED NECKLACE I am wearing is very much like my engagement ring; one stone in the centre with a halo on the outside. If you have a similar engagement ring you SO need this necklace. This is very 1920’s (my fave era) and looks incredibly expensive. I wanted to show you some unique ways to style your necklaces. You can add a choker, wear a T Shirt with a choker neck, wear a bandanna or even layer up with another necklace. I styled this with another necklace which is also from PANDORA, it is very dainty which was to ensure it didn’t take away the focus from the stunning VINTAGE INSPIRED NECKLACE . Although the LONG DAINTY NECKLACE compliments the shorter necklace so well it can also be worn on it’s own.
The last jewellery piece to share with you is the CHUNKY RING I am wearing. I love to wear chunky rings. I am open to wearing more dainty jewellery now but when I was younger I was obsessed with chunky jewellery; it’s suits my tomboy style. If you are wearing a cosy outfit or an outfit with heavy textures such as leather or thick wool; a chunky piece of jewellery in the perfect accessory. I think this CHUNKY RING looked so good with my heavy metal boots. This ring is still very much an elegant piece because it’s not overly chunky and the “shimmery affect” adds a touch of elegance.
These pieces are all from the PANDORA AUTUMN WINTER COLLECTION therefore they all compliment each other so well. You can mix and match, wear them all together or wear one piece at a time. Do not forget to add some sparkle to your Autumn/Winter looks this year, remember even a simple pair of studs go a long way and even if you are head to toe covered, you can still dress up those fingers. I know in the winter I am often uninspired to make an effort but I always throw on some jewellery to differentiate one grey knitted jumper and jeans from another.
What ever your style is, we can all enjoy styling up simple outfits with jewellery, I hope this article portrays that. Another important Autumn/Winter focus is make-up. I am not one for a red lip, or a purple tone lipstick so I still keep to the nude tones all year round. I don’t have a strong set of lips and I prefer to focus on my eyes. If you are like me, or maybe you can wear both; nude and red tones but you think nude lips are only for the summer. I add a dark lip pencil to make the tone more brown. This is a good winter nude colour. Again such a small touch can make a huge difference to your look. Now can you see how a simple knitted jumper and trousers can be so thought out and unique just by adding some PEARL EARRINGS and a certain colour lipstick? Remember to style out your necklaces or bracelets. Mix your necklace with another, it’s all about layering and creating different textures.
Nails are another vital part of any look. I never ever have my nails unpainted and I pride myself on always having nice nails. My go to Autumn/Winter colours are black, red or grey.
THE FINAL LOOKS: Who is now looking forward to Winter and wearing knitwear?
ELEGANT BEUTY STUD PEARL EARRING
DAZZERLING DAINTY DROPLETS NECKLACE
GREY KNITTED SWEATER WITH HOLES
