LFW SS14 Day 1

Here is my first look from LFW SS14 in the rain! I can not believe the rain this year it completely ruins outfits, hair and make up but I still did not let that stop me wearing a shirt dress and sling back suede heels 🙂 I will upload a video from Newlook TV tomorrow and you can watch me looking like a drown rat with my frizzy hair and talking about wearing sling back in the rain! I am fully aware I am probably the only blogger who is just starting to publish day one of fashion week, I am sorry for the delay but it is hard to juggle two jobs and blogging but I will try to catch up.

Everyone knows I love my Chanel vintage jewellery so I wanted to wear something to showcase some of my favourite pieces, I would not usually wear them all together but it was fashion week so why not? I chose to wear a simple dress as it was all about the jewellery. I decided on the red bag because denim always works well with red and then the impractical shoes followed.

You may think that shopping for a denim shirt dress would be easy but in fact it was quite the opposite. I searched high and low and typically could not find anything until I came across the Jbrand one in Harrods but was convinced I would find a high street version and avoid paying £225! I found one in Zara which was nice but a bit short, I nearly ordered the Topshop one but I preferred the wash and shape of the Jbrand. Luckily I got the one I wanted for my birthday. I only discovered the pockets on the day I wore it so that was a nice surprise. I always try to buy high street but in this case I could not find any on the high street and it is simple and classic so I am sure I will get the wear out of it.

The first show for London Fashion I attended was Canadian designer Jean Pierre Braganza (who studied at Central Saint Martins) at Sommerset House. I was looking forward to this show as I was eager to know more about the brand. I would love to go through every show but my posts will be far too long so I will just highlight the brands and events I enjoyed the most.

The first look immediately captivated me and I thought “yes” I am going to love this collection, I was able to get some great shots sitting front row. You can see the palette was white and black with some hints of grey, red and pink, simple but focusing on the silhouettes; sharp angles and diagonal slit neck lines. I noticed the white looks had some kind of laser cut effect and subtle textures which added some depth to a simple fabric. It seems to be all about texture, cut and print next season!

The make up reflecting a sixties look and worked well the candy colours and simple chic lines. My favourite looks were the opening horizontals stripes as seen below and look 21 the simple black dress that had a dramatic flowing back.

I would like to think Jean Pierre’s mentor Rouland Mouret was proud and approved of the new collection? What do you think of the brand and which look was your favourite?

After the show we bumped into Angelica Blick and Andreas Wijk, I am sure you are familiar with the sensational Swedish bloggers? They were both really sweet, I have found that bloggers tend to be really clicky and offish or really sweet.

After the show myself and Tamara popped over to the One Aldwych hotel opposite Sommerset house for a Handpicked Media event. It is a hotel suite where a few brands come together and present the SS14 collections and newest products. One of best parts of this event is I discovered the best nail salon ever! I am aways trying to find a nail salons that can create what ever design I show them; reverse french manicure, shapes and stripes and no one in my area will do it or can not do it. The Nail Girls are based in Islington and the likes of Brix Smith – Start, Vogue and Elle have all tried and tested the nail art, they can create any design you show them! The colours are super formula, free from any harmful chemicals (toluene, formaldehyde, DBP and camphor. They are not tested on animals, are vegan friendly and all packaging is recyclable. So next time you are around Islington pop by Nail Girls.
